Nomads Rugby is pleased to announce that we are the grateful recipients of a $15,000 grant from Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities’ Sport Relief Fund.

The Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund provides much needed financial support to sport organizations to help build back sport and play through 2021.

In Nomads Rugby’s case the greatest impact from Covid-19 in 2020 was loss of revenue. The total 2020 revenue was $79,ooo less than 2019’s; membership fees were down $56,000 and sponsorship was down $42,000. Although costs saving partially offset the impact of reduced revenue, for 2020 the club incurred a $20,000 loss compared to a $15,000 profit in 2019.

“The Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund Grant enabled Nomads Rugby to recover from the impact of Covid-19 in 2020 and allowed us to operate and offer minis and juniors programs to the fullest capacity permitted by Provincial regulations and Rugby Canada” said Ross Pinkerton, President of Nomads Rugby. “It made a huge difference to Nomads’ youth experience, and we are extremely grateful for the support.”

Founded in 2005, Jumpstart’s mission is “to enrich the lives of kids in need through sport and physical and activity.” It helps kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation in an effort to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities.
