June 25 Game Recap

Senior Women
The Nomads Women’s team had their first home game of the season against the 2nd placed Brampton team. The Nomad’s welcomed back Jess Belchos for her final game of the season, as well as a notable debut for Maddy Biggs on the wing. The game started with a well-worked try to the Nomads, with Belchos crossing after some fine lead up work. Once again the forwards dominated which created space for the potent backline to put away the outsides on numerous occasions. The Nomads went into halftime with a 20-12 lead. The girls had only just finished their halftime oranges when they found themselves down 20-26 after two well taken tries to Brampton. In what was some of the best rugby seen this year, three tries were scored taking the score to 35-26 to the Nomads. A Brampton try brought the score back to 35-33 with 2 minutes remaining. In a tense final period, the forwards once again paved the way with two monumental scrums that allowed the Nomads to maintain valuable possession. The heat combined with the final whistle lead to euphoria amongst the players, and some grey hairs for the management. There were too many names to mention as stand outs as all 23 girls contributed to a fantastic win that is a big turning point in the season.
The ladies will be facing off against the Irish this Wednesday for the first time this season.
