From Katie Grudzinski of the Edmonton Clansmen Rugby Club:
I unfortunately need to pass on some bad news regarding a former member of your club, Graham Miller, who passed away earlier this month as a result of a motorcycle accident in Edmonton.
Our Clan family, along with Graham’s family have been working with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) to set up a memorial and a scholarship to honour all that Graham gave to us selflessly.
I was hoping that we can pass the message to those members of your club, new and old.
On Wednesday, November 9th, our community lost a brother as Graham B. Miller M.SC was killed in a traffic accident in Edmonton, Alberta. A member of the Nomads RFC in Toronto, a member of the Clansmen RFC in Edmonton (1995) and a teacher at NAIT (2000), Graham was able to positively impact many many people teaching computer systems both at the Edmonton Campus and at the sister school in Harbin, China.
Additionally, Graham will also be remembered as a long time coach of the men’s and women’s rugby programs at St Francis Xavier high school in Edmonton, for cooking meals for the Clansmen RFC, their opponents and Team Canada, and for being one tough tighthead prop. Quick to smile and laugh to know Graham was to love Graham and his gracious, inclusionary spirit will be missed by all those he touched.
A tribute to Graham will be held at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) on January 7th, 2012. This will be followed by a reception at the Clansmen RFC.
NAIT has established a Graham Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund and donations should be addressed to Sabrina Giordano 11762 – 106 St, Edmonton Alberta T5G 2R1.
Thank you so much.
